DOW 30

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is a stock market index that indicates the value of 30 large, publicly owned companies based in the United States. It is the second-oldest U.S. market index after the Dow Jones Transportation Average (it was first used on May 26, 1896). It is not longer representing heavy industries but rather important companies compiled to gauge the performance of the industrial sector within the American economy.
